Church Nerds Day 6
We are more than halfway through the trip now and have really started making progress. We have been working with a great Pastor of a great church. I imagine it must be incredibly difficult to sit around with a bunch of people telling you how you should do a number of things differently or rethink this area of your service or design. It’s been an incredible partnership with a Pastor that just wants excellence at every level.
We’ve spent the week focused thus far on their identity both to the church and to the community. We have refreshed their logo and website (seen below) and have been working on refreshing signage around the building (kids area, cafe area, etc) as well as new signage outside. We will be creating templates to use for their services that back up their refreshed identity as well. We also have an opportunity to sit down with some key volunteers to go over some service stuff, web stuff, etc.

Today we will finish up a welcome video, work on printing and migrating the site from the staging area to the actual site.
I am enjoying every minute with my team mates both my small team deployed to River of Life and my whole team deployed to a total of 17 churches in the area helping with needs varying from getting churches on social media networks to complete rebranding from the ground up (Logo, websites, service elements, software, etc). I can’t say enough about the heart of both the leadership of the team as well as each member. Everyone has come with their “A” game and a deep desire to see the message of God communicated with clarity.
No, we didn’t build a church building or construct an orphanage. No we didn’t run a VBS or witness on the streets. We have created sustainable solutions for churches to effectively communicate an ultimate message of God’s never-ending love for each community these churches are involved in. Yeah, we all know that design is not what’s going to grow the churches we work with on this trip but it can help to remove the barriers for outsiders looking in. It’s still and always will be all about Jesus and his people devoted to growing in their faith and reaching out to others. We are just glad to be a part of what God is doing in Albany, NY.
